To compliment 'The Dream Pool Intervals' exhibition at the Hugh Lane Gallery, 27th March-28th September, 'Reports to an Academy' is available, which looks at a previous exhibition from Ailbhe.
'Reports to an Academy,' the title of the exhibition, represents a two-year commitment to preparing the presentation. Ní Bhriain continues in her technique, the painstaking labour of creating digital video collage. There is no evidence of the hours required to seamlessly stitch moving images together in the final projections. The illusion subsumes the method and we are generously invited into a floating world of dreams and possibilities. For this immersive installation, four screens host four different locations: a library, a studio, a natural landscape, and a natural history museum. Their screens create an inner room, and their interfacing content offers a space of myriad connections, ruminations, and contemplation.
